Radio Audience Update

The results of the latest radio audience measurement survey are in.  The Radio Bureau reports:

  • Overall results are fairly stable nationally, with little change since the last survey in time spent listening and audience levels.
  • Wellington is an exception, with both time spent listening and audience levels increasing, reversing the downward trend that market has been experiencing.
  • Time spent listening has increased for the All People 18-34 demographic, up 20 minutes to 17 hours & 37 minutes per week.

Looking at individual stations performance nationally:

  • Newstalk ZB is the top station (All People 10+), with its breakfast show still attracting the most listeners in New Zealand.
  • For All People 18-34, and All People 25-54, The Rock is top overall.
  • Flava and The Breeze had the highest cumulative audience growth (All People 10+).  Easy Mix, Radio Live, Solid Gold, and George have also experienced growth.

The upshot is that there were fewer shifts than could have been expected.
